Born in the North West part of Haiti, many people asked: Why did I choose Leogane for such a project? The answer is simply, God wanted it there. I was simply a vessel in God’s hand for a special mission of salvation. The vision to build that orphanage was given in a plain day while driving from church on a Sunday. That vision was embraced by the Redemption Baptist Executive Committee and by the entire congregation.God had placed in the hearts of many members of the church to finance the project and to assist in making it a reality. “Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established” (Prov.15: 22). A committee was put together to plan the steps for fund raising and other aspects to move the project. First of all, I want to give all the glory to our God, Father of the fatherless and a special thanks to the enduring members, without whom, the project would have been impossible.
Becoming fatherless (orphan) during adolescence, I understand the plight of orphans. I didn’t have to be at an orphanage, because I was rescued by family members. However, my heart was and is still tender for the less fortunate, especially the orphans. It is no wonder that God called me for such a mission. I will do my best to fulfill it graciously till the Lord calls me home.
